Why oh why in the UK are there so many Car Drivers who think they know it all. Some interesting facts I have picked up over the past.
1. A hgh percentage of card drivers believe a cyclist is breaking the law if he doesnt use a cycle lane. (IINCORRECT). A cycle lane is for use for any rider who feels insecure or can be used as a supposedly safe domain for some car drivers terrible driving! N.B. Ive lost count how many times cars push past and then pull up with out indicating and disembark without indicating their intentions.
2. A large majority of car drivers feel we should pay 'road tax' why? since 1937 the 'road tax' was abolished by Sir Winston Churchill our roads are all paid for through other sources ie: income tax etc. The tax disc on a car is for V.E.D. (vehicle emissions duty)... We dont give off any emission so we qualify like a lot of the new cars Band A low emmission vehicles which qualify for a £0.00 charge. 3. What gives cyclists the right to jump red lights, this is sheer stupidity by cycists putting their lives at great risk. Oh hang on maybe they have been watching car drivers also doing it and think hey if they can so can I... I abide by all signals as defined by the highway code.
4. Why is it so rare to see a car indicate at all or correctly when a approaching any junction? I hear so much the statement from car dirvers when questioned their answer is 'there is no one else on the road' these appear to be the same people who say 'sorry mate I didnt see you'.
5. I also totally disagree with the statement think once think twice think bike. If you all rode, drove, jogged, walked with the approach there is quite likely a very small box just round the corner you would surely see anything larger? The only reason you dont see things is your doing things with your eyes closed...
Im sure the above statements will annoy and cheese certain people off these are the type who dont indicate, who jump red lights and have a total disregard for other legal road users, and when questioned they cant see thier short falls...
