Well I decided to get back into MTBing back in April 2010 and by Sept 2010 also invested in a really nice Trek Road Bike! Where will it stop I now have the biking bug, lol.
On 22/6/11 at about 11:15am I had my first bad accident requiring the emergency services and a visit to A&E. Damage to myself: Severe concussion, Badly bruised elbow, and lower spinal damage. Cycle damage: Seat, Bar Tape, Shoes, Pedals, Rear QR. Crash Helmet.
I want to dedicate part of this page to Cycle Safety and the wearing of a crash helmet. There appears to be a lot of people who still insist they are 'captain invincible' when riding cycles in our environment. The accident I was involved in ended up with me facing the wrong direction and slamming the back of my head into the tarmac at over 25mph. The helmet crushed as its designed to and I heard the crunching as it compressed. If I wasnt wearing one this would of been my head! Doesnt bare thinking about. I suffered sever concussion and whiplash to my neck but no broken bones or skull fractures. I have always worn a helmet because I always thought they looked cool, now I have 1st hand experience that they are pretty cool at preventing serious damage to your head, what a cool idea, and didnt I look smart coming to that conclusion. So please follow me in campaigning to make the cycle helmet a legal requirement.

TREK 2010 complete with aero bars only a few days old, very quick and rigid frame..

This is the back of my crash helmet you can see how the outer shell has lifted from the interior as it has compressed under the load of the accident...

My L/H elbow! I dont know what caused the lines on my forearm... There was nothing in the road to cause such a mark strange!
